HDMI cables

Im looking at purchasing a KDL40W2000 Sony tv. Shop are offering HDMI cable as part of deal. Know very little about what I need. Do you get HDMI with TV anyway? I would be hoping to get sky HD and PS3 in near future, would cables come supplied with these or do I need to purchase HDMI lead for each one. Also TV only has 2 HDMI ports, if I want to run HD DVD, sky HD and PS3, how would I do this and what would I need to purchase, any idea of cost etc.

Depends on the price they are asking for the cable as part of the deal. I'd always go for the cheapest HDMI cable I could because the data that is going through the cable is digital and does not degrade like it would in an analogue cable like a Scart or S-video. Either it works or it doesn't- anyone who tries to charge extra for a "premium" cable is playing on the fact that people will always pay more because they think it's better!

You will need an HDMI cable if you get a PS3 as they don't include one in the box.

However, why do you need a PS3 and an HDDVD drive? Can't you just buy Blu Ray disks instead? Or if you need HDDVD, why not get an Xbox360 Elite with an HD drive? I have an Xbox 360 myself and it's an incredible machine, especially when compared to the PS3s somewhat meagre selection of games..

can I play normal dvds on ps3?

Yes PS3 plays normal DVD's. My PS3 is Europe and plays europe DVD's. Not sure about other regions - most likely locked to europe.

My PS3 came with a HDMI cable but this was part of a bundle from play.com.

Sky HD came with a HDMI cable.

You can buy HDMI switch boxes to handle more or use component cables for one of the devices - HD runs over component as well.
