Help, what can I do?

So I parked my car in a city centre car park thinking it would be safe. I parked and went to work and came back to a note on my car and a banged up front bumper. I was fuming but ‘at least he left his number’ I thought. I rang the guy and he apologised and asked if possible he could pay for damages instead of going through insurance. But only gave me his first name no other details. The car park has no cctv and because I had agreed to get a quote to give to him to choose whether we go through insurance or not apparently the police can’t do anything because I ‘came to a civil agreement’ so can’t even investigate to get surrounding cctv to find out his number plate. So now I have a damaged car and the guy refusing to pay because it’s too expensive! What am I suppose to do? All I have is a first name, phone number and what type of car he was driving. Please help me!

Go back and tell them about section 154 rta.0 -
Google his phone number, just in case it brings up some way of identifying him.0

Go back and tell who?
I google his number and all I could find was what network he was with.
I think I’m just gonna be stuck with it myself 😔0 -
There is nothing you can do, except either get a cheaper quote, or just accept how much he is willing to pay and pay the rest. When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Nietzsche
Please note that at no point during this work was the kettle ever put out of commission and no chavs were harmed during the making of this post.0 -
Try putting his number into Facebook, you might get lucky - google wouldn't pick it up if it was registered to his Facebook.
Also try putting the number as a contact in you phone and checking whatsapp - if he is on there it might come up with his name.0 -

Or search Linkedin with the number.0 -
Or simply ring him up again and get more details, eg, his address to send the quotes would be a good start.0

If you have comprehensive cover you can claim off that0 -
I'd arrange to meet at a body shop of his choice for a quote. At least you have him there so can get a reg number.
Or tell him you will post some more quotes through his door for him to look at and take to bodyshops to see if he can get it cheaper. That should get an address and hopefully a damaged vehicle outside his house.0
