Switching to TSB Classic Plus account

You have to do a full switch; in other words, the old account from which you are switching your direct debits, etc., will be closed down.
If your old account is a joint one, your new TSB account must also be a joint one. But it's complicated to start this:
(1) Apply (via the MSE link if you want the switching bonus) for a one-person account.
(2) You and your partner must go together to a TSB branch and convert the new account into a joint one. (In my case, the nearest branch in Cambridge is 15 miles away; it'll be worse for many people.)
(3) Once the TSB joint account is open, then you can give the order to switch from your old joint account.
(All this is explained in the TSB eligibility criteria page.)
Does the TSB really want us to open joint accounts?

That's all normal for a switchI consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

If the terms and the procedure are too onerous for your liking, you could just not do the switch.0

OP
Can you explain which part of the things you have quoted are you questioning?
It looks as though you have copied from another MSE thread. Is that right?0 -
You are also not eligible for the ongoing monthly cashback if you held a Classic Plus at any point in the past. So new customers only. What was that advert they used to do that specifically said they wouldn’t do that?
EDIT - actually their T&C are not clear on this. I am going to check with them.
I was right - not eligible!!0 -
Hi,
I used to have an account with them but closed it 6 or so months ago (I did not switch over when I opened). If I now open an account with them again and switch will I receive their switching bonus? In the T&Cs it does not say that this offer is for New Customers only, just that its for those that haven't received a switching bonus before.
Can anyone clear this up?0 -

You should qualify for the switching bonus but if your old TSB a/c was a Classic Plus one then you won't qualify for the either of the £5/month cashbacks.0
