Electric Shower issues

We have a Redring electric shower which is around 7 years old - but well used as 3 teens in the house!!
When we turn it on it jumps like trying to start a car quite a few times before it gets going. Once going its grand.
Does this sound like its on its last legs or is there a simple explanation ?
Thanks

Jumps? As in the water stops and starts?
They typically have an electric solenoid valve which opens to let the water through, could be an issue with the valve or the controls.0 -

If it is the solenoid and you know what you're doing, you can get replacements.0
