Passport office, very fast for me!

Filled in forms last Tuesday night, printed them Wednesday morning and posted them same day recorded, today I had my new passport.

It was a renewal but old one was 5 years out of date

Just shocked that they only recieved documents on Thursday and today have new passport!

I don't think that can really be beaten easily!

I'm surprised to hear it was rather quick by post.

I recently required an urgent passport renewal and used the same day service,

I was expecting to hang around for hours in the office and for it to be somewhat of a bureaucratic nightmare, however, it was a smooth experience.

Turned up at the appointed time, dropped off the documents (the appointment lasted no longer than 5-10 minutes), came back 4 hours later and walked off passport in hand. Although for the price which they charged for it, I would have expected nothing less!
  • I had a very quick passport turnaround too. I sent off for my new passport mid December 2015 and I received my new passport 6 days later. Given the Christmas post, I thought that was good going and very impressed.

It wasn't urgent at all but just felt I needed to renew as my old passport was 4 years out of date. I was quite happy to wait until the new year to get it back.

I guess this time of year may be quieter for passport requests.

Renewed mine online last month. Photo accepted on the Sunday, posted my old passport back on the Monday, new passport received on the Friday.
    I was stunned.

At the quiet times of the year they're very efficient - I was impressed as well!
  • i normally love to complain :rotfl:

but my experience with the passport office has been great. for my sister's 21st birthday i got her a passport. she had changed her name since her children's passport so it wasn't a renewal, had to make a brand new application. i took it to the london office on saturday afternoon as i was out with friends that evening anyway. she got it on monday in the post. i used the one week fast track service.

time of year is definitely important. after the summer rush, it's pretty smooth sailing for a standard passport.

Similar here - I changed my name and renewed mine last week. Sent off last Monday (possibly Tuesday - the parents in law sorted), had my text today to say it will be with me tomorrow.

Can't get better than that (although I am still bitter about how much they cost).

Not everyone's happy. We sent off for our 16 year old twins' first adult passports in late September - neither back yet. One of the forms was spoilt because he signed over the line, but the letter (not an email) the PO sent to tell us never arrived, so that was a month lost.

So your son signed outside the area specified and you submitted the application nevertheless? The Passport Office sent you a letter telling you this which didn't arrive? What has the Passport Office done wrong exactly?
