Moisture in walls

Hi everyone,
Due to a leak in the bathroom, I recently bought a moisture. One of these things - https://www.amazon.co.uk/General-Tools-Moisture-Tricolor-MMD7NP/dp/B00HARYVUQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1509544816&sr=8-1&keywords=moisture+meter+general
Having dealt with the bathroom, I started going around the house looking at moisture levels in all walls. Don't ask me what possessed me to do that as I don't know. Curiousity I suppose
I now wish I haven't looked as practically all our walls downstairs show moisture levels somewhere between 60 and 100%! The meter is beeping in every single room and the same on all tiled flooring downstairs. Even by the windows. The lowest reading I get downstairs is about 40% or so in random spots but even that shows mid-range on the dry-wet indicator scale.
Can anyone tell me if it's normal or is this something I urgently need to deal with? And if so, how do I deal with this? There is no damp showing anywhere and we have no mould, so I don't really want to start any work if it's not necessary but, on the other hand, if it isn't necessary why are these meter readings the way they are? Many thanks in advance!

It's almost certainly your tool.0

Thank you; do you know what could possibly be wrong with it? It's new and doesn't appear to be malfunctioning.
Damp meters are great for accurately measuring the moisture content of wood, they are less useful for measuring the moisture content of masonry:

If your walls show no signs of dampness, you have nothing to worry about. Even if you did have symptoms of damp (mould etc.) the cause is much more likely to be condensation or a leak.0 -
Thank you so much @ TheCyclingProgrammer! Very helpful and informative indeed!0
