Unable to access external hard drive

    As usual with these cases of "it does not work" posts we don't know what the exact model and manufacturer of HDD package it is.

    We do not know whether it is one powered by the USB port or whether it is externally powered via its own PSU.
    Nor do we know whether it is a 3.5 inch "desktop type" drive or whether it is a 2.5 inch sized portable type drive.
    If it is a portable one it will have the electronics all totally integrated and you will not be able just to remove the actual HDD and plug it into an alternative SATA interface/caddy.
  • Came in with some very explosive comments there, Uxb :rotfl:, but all very true!

    From memory you can run the Seagate tools to a usb drive too.
