Santander Bank. Call Centre response time.

OMG.
Are they the worst!!
As a new customer I needed to ring the Call Centre with direct debit issue.
Gave up after waiting over ONE Hour to speak to an advisor.
Will be reverting back to my old bank. Never ever waited that long with them
Terrible service.

    Never ever had to wait anywhere near that when I phoned Santander. A few minutes at most, usually Liverpool or Leeds answer.

    Always use the secure message on line system, usually get a reply following day.
  • Although nick, if I had to contact my bank about a direct debit issue, I'd want to call them rather than go via messaging and get a reply the next day when it could be too late to sort out.

    Problem I find using telecon is that you have no record of the conversation, we all know how slippery some financial institutions can be.

    Iv banked with Santander for over 10 years and not once in that time have i had to wait more than 5 minutes to get a human on the phone ..


    Perhaps it was just bad luck and you caught them at an extraordinarily busy time ?
  • I've had to phone a few times and I've never waited that long. I think the longest was still less than 10 minutes.

    That's been our experience too, except I don't think I've ever had to wait even 5 minutes.


    Of all the banking call centres I use, I think Santander are one of the better ones. The best, in my experience, is Coventry BS.

    I worked with a company that ran call centres once. I got told that if you're waiting more than about 5 minutes, the most likely thing is that there's been an error with the call routing software (or whatever they called it!) and you won't actually ever get through, so it's best to hang up and try again.

    Ironically, our local Natwest has recently closed and I've been thinking of switching to Santander...

    Our local Santander branch is closing next month so don't live in hope.
