I've got a new mattress, it's softish but not memory foam. It's much warmer though than my previous one, I'm overheating even with the colder weather lately.

I have never tried one but you could try something like http://amzn.to/2z3Abq2
Having said that , I purchased an Amazon basics double memory foam mattress and it does great just for the price - http://amzn.to/2z5P7760 -
I've tried a microfibre topper but didn't really get on with it and it didn't last long. It was only £30 on Amazon but you certainly get what you pay for.
I use a wool topper now - it can help regulate your temperature so keeps you warm in Winter and cool in Summer. It has a fleecy side if you want it even warmer. It wasn't the cheapest but worth it though.
This is the one I got, it is out of stock unfortunately:

A quick Google reveals several other suppliers of wool toppers.0
