in Cutting tax
Hello. I was Tupe transferred at the change of the tax year and was given a P60 for 16/17 and a P45 for 2017/18 by my old employer, as the last payment from them was in the new tax year. I gave the relevant copy of my P45 to my new employer. Now I have left the new employer and have been given the P45 from them.
However the income and tax made from my old employer is not accounted for in the new employers P45 or i notice on any payslip I was given by them. Is this going to cause me some sort of problem?
The tax code stayed the same btw.

Can you post the figures from each employment?0

The numbers don't matter as the 2nd employers number only show my paye for thier employment. The amount from the 1st is never added up or shown anywhere .0

Was going to calculate if any underpayment would arise but basicaly if the 2nd P45 has a cumulative tax code without the pay and tax from the first P45 then you have underpaid tax.0

If the 2 nd employer did not dd in the P45 figures you would have received a tax rebate when they paid you as all your allowances would be given despite having used up some before joining them.
In that case you will have an underpayment of the amount refunded.
Have they not included it at all or have they just not shown it separately?
As asked already, what are the pay and tax figures and code number shown on your first P45 and on the second one?0 -
Also possible that the second employment was done under the emergency tax code, though that could also have resulted in being under-taxed. As advised with no figures cannot tell what your tax position is.0

The first P45 had a Tax code of 1150L and was noted as cumulative. Gross 636.14 no tax taken.
This 636.14 is never seen or added in any payslip or P45 for the 2nd company. Their payslips have a section for previous employment, but its blank.
The P45 for the 2nd company is 1150L and is noted as non cumulative. 8364.14 taxed 521.20 which matches the final pay slip.
It just surprises me that I will hand a P45 to a new employer and it won't record the all the correct information. I don't need to know If I have underpaid just whether this has been recorded correctly.0 -
If the P45 from co1 shows M1 and the first payslip from co2 is from M1 then you have most likely underpaid tax. You have been on an emergency tax code all year. Have you checked your on line tax account to see what HMRC think you are being paid ?0

Looks like your P45 from job 1 got lost before it got to ( or while it was in ) the payroll dept. They have then applied the emergency tax code. When all works correctly HMRC would then send the details of job 1 to job 2 but this appears not to have happened, or that got lost as well.
Hand in the P45 and in theory HMRC should advise new employer of the figures needed, but as did not work last time perhaps best to ring them to advise you need these figures issuing.
When the figures are received by your new employer any adjustment needed will be made to your tax on the next payday. Whether you are under or over taxed at the moment will depend on when you get your first pay from the new employer.0
