I instructed a US bank to wire money to my UK Bank. The money was not received. The US Bank provided MT103 information which I sent to my UK bank and they determined the sort code was wrong. It is a sort code owned by my bank but not the sort code for my bank account.
My UK bank told me that the funds would be automatically sent back to the US bank. 3 weeks later the US bank has still not received the funds. They have initiated 3 wire traces but state they have received no response from my UK bank. My UK bank states that there is nothing that they can do.
So, I'm left in limbo. This cannot be the first time this kind of error has occurred so if anybody could provide experience of how they resolved this then I would be very grateful.

You could write into one of the money sections (eg Telegraph, Mail (Tony Hetherington) etc) - only one, they don't like you duplicating - see if they can help.0

Your only course of action is to contact the sending bank - they should sort it out but if it turned out that you made a mistake with the sort code it could cost you.0

You don't mention the names of the banks, or who is responsible for the sort code mistake. Was there any intermediary bank involved?Evolution, not revolution0

Have you confirmed that you gave the US bank the correct details?0
