So today I came home to a letter saying I had been over paid by £672.82 by 29/11/17.
I rung tax credits in fury, for them to inform me I was paid from April 2016 until June 2016 when I was at university & unemployed! She advised me it's for the tax year and as I started work in the June I wasn't entitled that financial year!!
I'm feeling frustrated as surely from April to June I was financially entitled to the amount
I feel reluctant to pay until I have sought advice, I've always kept tax credits informed and updated! How is this fare??

Unfortunately it is correct - tax credits are based on annual income which is then spread out over the number of days in claim. So higher earnings in the later part of a year can impact on entitlement in the early part.
