in Cutting tax
On Friday I'm leaving my temp job to go to one with better pay.
When I started the payroll was the 16th to 16th, so annoyingly whilst I'm leaving I'm going to be owed 3 weeks pay plus holiday pay.
I worked out I will be owed, £1,240 approx (before tax) and this will be paid end of Nov.
My new job which starts on Monday pays me in arrears weekly, so by the end of the month I will have earnt 1,270 approx (before tax) in weekly payments.
Before both these jobs, I have had another job this tax year and have exceeded my personal allowance.
So i know im going to get taxed my question is, will I be penalised for being paid TWICE in one month?
This month I am massively at a loss, having to use my overdraft to buffer me because of the payroll dates in this current job as left me with only 2 weeks worth of pay to last a month - so I am concerned I will face a massive deduction next month and not be able to put that money back in.
So, if you are being paid in arrears by one job 4 weeks after leaving...at the same time you are being paid for your current job, is your tax considered separately for both - or are you taxed on the basis you earnt too much that month?
Thanks in advance
Natalie

You will not be penalised, you are taxed on what you earn over the whole year even if all paid on the first day of the tax year or the last. The problem could come if your new employer has not actioned your P45 and both allocate the same month's tax free allowance which leaves you underpaying tax (by around £190) and will catch up with you eventually.0
