M&S Internet Banking Woes

By all means stay for the gift card top up, but why settle for 0.35% when you can get 1.2% from a Tesco instant access savings account?
Mm yea, that is true...I'll mull it over. I can't believe I had been with the same bank for around 30 years and may only last a v short time with M&S before changing again :-)"...and in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make".0 -
Just about every UK bank, plus Nationwide Building Society, has a decent app. Except for M&S, who seem to be stuck in some sort of a timewarp.
Tesco Bank does the best instant access savings rates of the mainstream banks. Their app is very nice, they don't need a stupid calculator thingy, they even pay you interest on your current account, more than on your savings account. http://www.tescobank.com/current-accounts/fees/
Very tempting! Oh what to do?! :rotfl: Thanks you guys."...and in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make".0 -
I'm just hoping I don't inadvertently sign up to a bank with another security pass style system! I just wish the system was a bit clearer.
UPDATE: I've applied to Tesco guys and will be up and running soon. Thanks for all the feedback/advice :-)
Feel a bit crazy with all this switching, but in a good way!"...and in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make".0 -

I take you that you know that Tesco have no branch or even Post Office access? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
there is a monthly saver that offers 5% transfer 250 a month0

The only good thing about M&S Bank was the switch gift card plus £10 per month.
The monthly saver isn't bad but you need to phone up to open the account.
Once my £10's run out I'll be switching the account elsewhere.0 -

Isn't it £5 a month they top your gift card up with?"...and in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make".0 -

They offer a full Debit Card, which works in all ATMs and is contactless. You can make deposits and withdrawals in many Tesco stores. http://www.tescobank.com/help/deposits-and-withdrawals. They have FSCS protection, good online banking, a good app, comparatively great interest rates (though who knows for how long), full 7-day processing of payments and withdrawals, any payee is immediately available to all your Tesco accounts -
what's not to like?
The Tesco bank CS is excellent, so anything you cannot do online or in a Tesco store should be easy enough to do over the phone.
What would require a branch or post office?
NB. My main current account is not with Tesco, for historic reasons. I have held 2 Tesco current accounts, and several of their savings accounts, for several years, for their interest rates and because of the DD malarky that is now coming to an end because it's been abused by people. Yes, there was that one issue with some hackers breaking into the Tesco system, which caused some confusion and upset. To the best of my knowledge, what actually happened is not public domain information, but nobody lost any money, nobody was unable to make payments, and some of us got a nice payment as an apology0
