Enduring power of attorney

I registered my son's enduring power of attorney with his bank and building society. He is physically and mentally able. The only reason we did an enduring power of attorney years ago as he likes to travel and for me to manage his accounts and any problems arising whilst he is abroad. I do not like the idea of all his statements stating my name as poa. I went to the bank to ask what he needs to do if he wants to remove my name as attorney. I got conflicting advice I was told as an attorney I could just fill a form and request my name to be removed. Another building society told me he cannot do it he must see a solicitor. Which one is right? He does not want to revoke the poa he just wants my name to be removed from his account. He has his own debit/credit and cheque book I do not operate these for him. I have got the impression when you mention poa bank staff think that the person is mentally incapable or elderly. Thanks

You ned to go higher up to the manager. The frontline staff are not adeqautely trained. However does it really matter that much?0

The building society are wrong. The simplest thing to do is close the account and start again with another provider.0
