Breakdown Cover and Insurance
Options
My fault I know for not reading the small print - get that out the way
But just drawing attention to the fact that if you get Breakdown Cover with your car insurance (plus extras like courtesy car and reduced excess) If you want to cancel your insurance you may get charged full price for the extras
I'm changing car and found it a lot cheaper on a comparison site (current insurer wanted me to pay £5.00 a month extra) Read policy and thought it would be cheaper to cancel and restart a new one as it said £30.00 cancellation fee
How wrong the £30.00 is £156 as have to pay off the Breakdown Cover, Courtesy car and reduced excess part
I pointed out that this isn't clear in their documents to no avail
Please be aware before adding extras The small print is important

Makes sense. The insurance company have to pay for the breakdown policy in full up front. It may be discounted but they've still had to pay for it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

It's not so much the cost but the fact it's not obvious this could happen so thought let people know.
I did say that if I have to pay for the rest of the year's breakdown etc surely I should have access to the services which she couldn't answer lol0
