Exactly, changing the taps in my own bath, could easily run to a days work or maybe longer.
Also with regards to the cost of the taps, last year I ripped out a bathroom for a client which I would estimate was 60-70 years old, with that as an expected life expectancy for a bath and taps and depending upon the age and quality of the fittings it could be said that to all intents and purposes they are new.

I would think 4 to 5 years was the life span of a modern acrylic bath. In my experience, by then they look 20 years old.

A lot of poster mention the issue of betterment. Although this is correct, I think that when it comes to obvious damage, it's not so straight forward.

I had a tenant who broke a door handle. The door had been replace a year before they moved in and they were there for 3 years. The case went to ADR, I included the invoice of the replacement of the handle (at a reasonable price) and the ADR agreed to the retaining of that full amount of the replacement.

I do agree that in this instance, £350 for taps sounds ridiculous.

It really does depend on what is involved, I would have to remove the tiled panels from the side and end of my bath, remove the whole bath replace the taps which were £90 put the whole thing back again. Easily £345, we don't know the full situation.

One thing I would say however though is that the fitting of the taps would be irrelevant if the whole bath were being replaced, I would then expect the whole job to take the same amount of time.

A broken door handle is something that has to be replaced. It's functional, not aesthetic. So not really that relevant.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.
