Drivers License Renewal Dilemma
Options
hello guys
need a little advice as somewhat confused on this. I moved address so need to update my license, however, I tried this online but it requires a new type passport which I don't have. My old passport has expired years ago, never been abroad since so never needed it.
Anyway, I looked up online to renew my license by post but it is specifically asking me to send in my physical license with the application form.... Why is this? I thought you where allowed to hang onto your license until you've received your new one? - My license expires in February, which means a full renewal I suppose, could this be why? but I still can't get around why I need to send in the license with the application?
And most importantly, I simply can not work without a license. My job (transport) requires me to have it on me at all times. Daily I am requested to show it when entering/leaving specialist areas. So it is not possible to work without one.
Someone please put my mind at ease, I'm already having financial troubles I can't afford to be out of work for 4 weeks I'd end up having to move out!
thanks

You need to include these things with your completed forms:
- a recent passport type photo (don’t sign the back of the photo)
- your current photocard licence, if you have it
- a cheque or postal order for £17, payable to DVLA (no fee is needed if you have a medical short period licence or you’re aged 70 or over)

Yes, yes it did....
Thanks man! Just one thing, as its due for full renewal, would they make a fuss/require more documents etc or is the above you've mentioned standard procedure?
Thanks again!0 -
the reason I ask is, I can't seem to find anything on the paperwork that says "if you don't have it - no problem" or do I tick both renewal and lost? For example I already know the license number so should I fill that part in? etc?
Thanks!0 -
I would just follow the form for renewal+lost+change of address send it off and see if they ask for anything else.0
