DLA to PIP payment alignment?

Options
I have received DLA for 11 years and was asked earlier in the summer to apply for PIP. My decision was made on 20th October and was successful.

I received a DLA payment on 13 October and my next payment is due on 10 November. I've been told that my PIP starts on 20 November and I will receive my first payment on 14 December.

I have also been told that my December payment will be lower than my payment in January and subsequent payments.

This doesn't make sense to me, because the gap between my next due DLA payment and first PIP payment is almost five weeks...

So, will my payment on 10 November be higher than usual? Or will I get a small DLA payment on 8 December as well? Or will my payment due on 10 November be late? I'm very confused.

TIA.

You should receive a final payment of DLA to cover the period upto and including 19th of November. Your first PIP payment will be for less than the standard 4 week period, which is why it will be lower than subsequent payments.
  • Great, thanks for letting me know.

Should I expect to receive that payment on 8th December (when I would be paid if it weren't for the changeover) or will it come sooner, sometime after 19th November when DLA ends?

It doesn't make much difference either way, I suppose. I'm pleased not to be losing the money between 10th and 20th November.
