I feel really stupid for asking this, but are my Contacts on the Windows phone (Lumia 435) stored on the sim, the storage card or in the memory of the phone?
I just can't work out how to find them:o

Thank you - does mean they are saved in the phone's memory? If they are can I just save them to the sim then put the sim in my new phone? Or won't the new phone read then?0

Nowadays contacts are saved in the account on the phone not the SIm
The windows phone contacts will need to be transferred to ur Android google as Rumrat mentioned above

All my contacts are on my SIM. I then copy them to the phone also though.
Its a pain to find the number is on a phone or sim that is not working.
Have the contacts on both is useful in an emergency.
Pop my sim in another phone or pop another sim in my phone, all my contacts are there either way.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

good advice for a Non-smartphone, but not for a smartphone.......if you lose your phone or your Sim gets corrupted you have lost them.
Much better to have them on your account in the cloud

Of course they don't make use of the contacts stored on their server ... oh no, not at all. They're providing this service free of charge out of the goodness of their hearts.

Just FYI, all this exporting/importing when switching platforms isn't entirely necessary. It's not difficult to add a Microsoft Account to an Android phone. You can do it either via the phone's Account Settings, or in the Outlook app if you plan on using it. Tell either one to sync your contacts and they'll all be added to the phone's Contacts app the same as if you had them in your Google account.
Might depend on your circumstances/preferences, I suppose, but the options are there. The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.
