I know DLA is disregarded for tax purposes, but is it also disregarded in other scenarios e.g. claiming the Warm Home £140 heating grant or being eligible for other grants, due to low income, if receiving no means tested benefits ?

DLA isn't means tested and won't be classed as income. Being on just this won't qualify you for the warm home discount. Pension credit is the core group. The other group is certain means tested benefits thats will qualify you.I know DLA is disregarded for tax purposes, but is it also disregarded in other scenarios e.g. claiming the Warm Home £140 heating grant or being eligible for other grants, due to low income, if receiving no means tested benefits ?
You could also check the criteria of you energy company, just to be sure as they are all different.0 -
Depending on your income you may be entitled to a discount using the broader group.
DLA being awarded may also help.

Do some googling of your utility companies.0 -

I agree and have received Scottish Powers WHD for the last 4 years - based on income and DLA !!pmlindyloo wrote: »Depending on your income you may be entitled to a discount using the broader group.

Thanks, I already claim the Warm Home Grant from BG from the Broader Group, based on income and DLA. Mind you with the recent price increase, instead of moving providers, who have different criteria, the grant is wiped out
What I was really interested in, is other grants that may be available in the same circumstances i.e new boilers (all of them seem to require some form of means tested benefit) rather than total income of below £16,100.00 as a criteria.0
