Virgin CC

Hi,

My other half applied for Virgin CC and received a letter a stating "nearly there - we just need to confirm proof of id and address to make a decision".

Wondering if anyone else received that letter and what was the decision after that? Will they accept photocopy of passport or driving license.

Thanks
MS

  • The letter surely tells you what ID they will accept.
I would not think a photocopy of any ID would be acceptable although they may accept a certified copy but make sure that an appropriate body/person signs the copies.
  • Not sure about the proof of ID.
The fact they sent you a letter (which you received) is itself I expect part of the address-check. (If you gave a false address, you would not receive their letter). Typically they ask for a copy of a utility bill.
Anyway, as the previous answer says, surely they tell you what info they require???

As for what will their decision be - sounds like you have been approved, subject to these checks. If you are a legitimate applicant you should have no problem proving who you are and where you live. I can't imagine them THEN saying sorry you don't meet our lending criteria!

The letter should say how you can provide proof of ID. I applied for a Virgin CC a couple of years ago and gave up because there wasn't any cost-free way to submit proof as I didn't live near a Virgin Money store at the time. Personally, I refuse to pay a single penny for anything extra they need. Maybe they have more options now.

Most financial institutions now check identity online or only require non-certified photocopies and provide a self addressed envelope to send it across.
