    "Discrimination"?
    Really?
In what way were you discriminated against?
  • I'm a Destination Expert for The Maldives on Trip Advisor. We often get questions about The Maldives being a Zika risk area from travellers who are or are planning to become pregnant and travel to the country.

I have never heard of anyone being helped in such circumstances due to "discrimination" and wonder if you could perhaps expand on this in case it could be of help to others. Discriminated against on what grounds and how did you pursue this claim?

I'd really like to understand your situation and the outcome of your issue better in case it might be of help to others in similar circumstances.

Presumably you had travel insurance for your trip. Did they refuse your claim?

I'm pleased I'm not the only one who found it odd.
The OP did say she had travel insurance:
Thank you, I do have travel insurance through my bank account which I am trying next, was wondering if anyone knew of any rules where I could get a bit more help from travel company. I appreciate this area is known for the Virus but it wasn’t like we were trying for a baby, mainly because of the know virus.
As the original trip was scheduled for early November 2017 and the update came almost 2 years later, I'm not sure we'll get an answer.
  • I fail to see where the discrimination was. Why didn't you just claim off your travel insurance?

It seems to be that as soon as discrimination is mentioned, many companies opt to pay out immediately rather than risk having a possible court case and the high damages they might be ordered to pay if the case goes against them.

People who play the discrimination card falsely are despicable.
They disrespect every person who really has been discriminated against.

I agree. As soon as you weaponise something it downplays the severity of the real cases. There's far too much of it going on in our society at the moment.

In this case the solicitor who advised them to weaponise discrimination did the victims of real discrimination no favours, and are they are someone who is best avoided. He/she should be ashamed of themselves.
