Is there a chain above the vendor?0

I wouldn't buy the first one. Simply because there is no right of access over the unadopted road and only along the back to the parking so where are you going to get the new kitchen delivered to? I can see a whole heap of hassle with that unadopted road.
^^ I am failing to understand how no right of access to the front of your house is a minor issue?
I know someone who lived on an unadoped road, it was a bit of a nightmare regarding the maintance of it as one resident refused to pay anything towards the upkeep costs.0 -

Nope. The house is empty and has been for months. It was previously tenanted prior to going on the market.
Nevertheless, the vendor wrote on the property information form that she is living there, and is cooking on a camp stove as there are no kitchen facilities and she thought the sale would have gone through by now.
Solicitor says there is no point arguing over this, we know they are lying, the EA knows they are lying but none of us have any idea why.
Re the right of access, several properties have sold recently on the road and there's no evidence of any issues over access. It's not in terrible condition but I wouldn't drive on it anyway as the parking is round the back, with a gate to the back garden.0 -

It may be a requirement of your lender. Your solicitor is also acting for them. There is an outstanding issue with the house we are buying that I'm not bothered about at all but the lender has said it must be sorted and won't release the mortgage until it is!0
