Dumb Gmail question

I have a Gmail account with which I can send and receive emails both as my full name at gmail.com and as my nickname at gmail.com. I now want to add another alternative address (such as nickname2 at gmail.com) but I'm having a brainfart here and can't remember how I set this up. I've tried Googling the answer but am only getting myself even more confused. In a word - help please for the technically challenged!

Top right, click your photo/logo and select add account. You will need to have previously set up the account.

As far as gmail is concerned these emails are the same, and go to the same inbox :-

firstnamelastname@gmail.com
firstname.lastname@gmail.com
first.name.last.name@gmail.com

Third party systems will treat them as different afaik

And also
first..name...last....name@gmail.com
and any other combination of multiple full stops, bizarrely.

You can also use a plus sign with your main account name giving you infinite options
