Texts don't appear on new phone

I bought a new Android phone the other day. I just took the sim card out of my old Android phone and put it in the new one.
In the messages app, all the texts that I'd sent and received on the old phone aren't there on the new phone. Anybody know how to make them appear?

It sounds like you haven't backed up your texts.
You can use the free SMS Backup app to do this. It copies texts from your old phone to a Gmail account where you can then download them to your new phone:
