very confused help please

I have today received a letter from a company called drp ltd recovery debt.
This has landed totally out of the blue ? Its apparently for a parking charge ? Unauthorised parking . It has all my details on the letter and registration of my vehicle dates of supposed offence location and the creditor is listed as uk car park management etc yet i have never received any tickets also how have they obtained my address details etc
the letters asking me for £160.
Iv read the other posts on here and some are a little contradictory so any help advise would be great thanks as i dont want to contact these people until im sure of whats best to do ? Thank you in advance for any help

Contradictory? Advice about not posting about DRPLus, and ignoring them? Tell me where anything says anything different:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5035663

The advice hasn't changed since we started ignoring these letters a decade ago. I have ignored these laughable letter chains myself and you had no appeal open to you that would have worked anyway, so you haven't missed anything. Is your address on your V5 (registered keeper data) for that car up to date? Could a letter have gone to an old address, if so?

Come back and post again if you actually get a small claim from Gladstones solicitors, or a 'Letter before Claim'.

I am guessing you missed the thread in capital letters at the top of the forum when you hit 'new thread'? The one begging newbies:

'NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST'.

It's there to stop the forum being bogged down by posts like this one; where you do not need any advice at all and have no need to do anything whatsoever.

Post #4 of the NEWBIES thread covers 'IGNORE THE DEBT COLLECTORS' stage. Whatever you do, do NOT ring or contact DRPlus, unless you move house in which case just email them the new address. No other steps needed.

DO NOT read 'advice' posted by newly-joined posters, and do NOT read private messages from people with another agenda, offering to help.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Read the Sticky thread, the one you were asked to read FIRST.

No need to throw your toys out of the pram. People here are very helpful but you need to make the effort to help yourself by reading the relevant information. It's no use saying you don't understand the acronyms when there are posts explaining them.
People have neither the time nor inclination to repeat things that are already there for you to read for yourself.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

You have probably breached the terms and conditions of a sign in a private car park, stayed too long, parked outt of bay, not paid. underpaid, entered a wrong vrn, etc., etc., etc. They claim that this is a breach of contract and that you owe them money. This is a scam and they are acting on the very outer fringes of the law, there are few regulations and the Trade bodies are corrupt. and incompetent.

You can beat them, and even make them pay you money, but the rules are complicated and you need to learn them. Unless you learn how to play the game, and you are prepared to put in the hours you could be in for a rough ride.

Your attitude sucks and you appear to be just the kind of victim these scammers like to milk.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

the acronyms are explained in post #5 of the NEWBIES sticky thread

post #4 of that thread deals with DRP and other debt collectors

I told you in simple terms to IGNORE the debt collectors, it doesnt get any easier than that , IGNORE is a straightforward word

I even bumped this thread below so you could read it , its all about debt collectors and IGNORING them and was posted 3 years ago

throwing your baby toys out of the pram doesnt help when asking for advice (which you were given , for free)
