But the England national squad doesn't have the running costs of a stadium to meet. Nor does it have player purchasing costs or indeed most of the other costs that are normally associated with a league team. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Ah good old piracy. You wouldn't rob a house but think nothing of taking money off companies who have paid £billions for rights to the matches in a sport where if their money wasn't there it would be a third rate league.
How can it be piracy when the product isn't available to buy here?Pants0

It's basically to stop the small clubs being hurt.
If you could watch the best football in the world at 3pm on a Saturday, not many people would bother turn up to watch Plymouth Argle getting thrashed again. Especially since the weather is poor in England.
In the USA they have a different system. They have a blackout but it only applies to the city you are in. So if you are in Manchester, you wouldn't be able to watch Manchester United or City home games live on TV. But if you lived in Liverpool you could watch them ok.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Seeing as the vast majority of their fans do not come from Manchester... 0 0

And this causes issues such as local fans who can't make it to the match for any reason not being able to watch their team play. It's basically to stop the small clubs being hurt.

Reminds me of an argument I saw a few years ago on BBC 606 football forum. Someone made the same comment and one guy that responded was very angry and vociferous about it. After several posts he was asked where he lived ... born and bred in Peckham 0 0

I used to love football . However, slowly but surely the corporate greed began to creep in and destroy what the op wants to do .
I’m not against the players getting the wages they do . If it was me, I’d take that cash also
However, when you have fans travelling for big games and trains are not running properly and they are inconvenienced majorly so that the tv company wants to show the game at 5.30 I think it is going too far.
ITV stopped showing the champions league live matches now.
Bt have started charging customers who have BT broadband now as well . As for sky , you know that when murdoch eventually snuffs it ,
It will be £10 to see the funeral service , £20 for hd and £50 for the burial.
There won’t be another season like Leicester ( or forest from the old division one ). For that reason, I’ll just record match of the day and decide if it’s worth watching.
Fans should be allowed in for free via a ballot system. The money made from advertising and sponsorship would take care of that .
Oops , sorry I’m ranting a bit now . No answer to the question after all that .:rotfl: if people just cancelled their sports packages en masse that would be the way forward0

It's because between BT and SKY they have pretty much all the rights to all games.
BBC and others rarely get a lookin and don't even try any more. Mainly as people would rather watch crap they will never cook and houses they will never buy than a good bit of footy.
 Blame the Daily(hate)Mail0

great idea. or just have a dedicated soccer channel so the rest of us don't have to suffer or be forced to contribute to the past time."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0
