UKPC Ticket I had no idea about

Hello, I'm hoping someone could help me out here as I'm completely baffled.

I received a letter this morning through my post from 'DRP - Debt Recovery Plus Ltd' stating that I've an outstanding parking charge of £160 to pay. Reading the letter further reveals that I had apparently received a ticket on 08/08/2017 for 'not parking correctly within the markings of the bay or space'.

This is the first I've known of this and it's worth mentioning that I hadn't received an NTK beforehand either. Only this letter.

Doing some further research on UKPC, I came across a few sites that stated that UKPC was previously in trouble for creating tickets whereby the picture of a vehicle was taken with the ticket on, but then removed to ramp up the charges. Could this be what has happened to me?

My car was parked in my estate on that date temporarily, as I was loading goods (I remember this clearly because this was the date I was dropping someone off at an airport). What are my options?

Thanks a lot for the help, in advance.

Parking outside the box is very difficult for a PPC to win at court, usually no-one has suffered a loss the you can argue that the amount claimed is either a penalty, ot an unfair term in a consumer contract. especially if the bays are less than 2.4 metres wide.

That, coupled with previous fraudulent behaviour by this company leads me to think that they would struggle in court,

If they have obtained your details from DVLA they may well have breached Data Protection Laws.

Thanks for your reply Redx! I shall be sure to do that. I hadn't seen #4 initially but I was aware of the newbies thread (I challenged UKPC in the same car park, which was months ago, and they STILL haven't gotten back to me - maybe they gave up) and I recognise the stress on not posting new threads regarding UKPC Debt Collection. Apologies!

Goodness me! I'd only seen The Mirror's one, however these are all interesting reads. Surely this should make it more difficult for them to take court action against me as their company was previously involved in fraudulent activity? Thanks for the links and the reply!

Thanks for the reply The Deep! That's interesting - but do UKPC bother then if there's little to no way to win in court? I was thinking that, too, regarding getting my information from the DVLA. I've heard people have previously sued them for this as it is a breach -- is this true?

    Thank you all so far.

Before the photo doctoring incidents they hardly ever took a case to court. Since then......

They jumped on the PPC litigation bandwagon that started to roll a couple of years ago. Most we see for UKPC are for multiple ticket cases, but there have been single tickets too. You just have to be alert to receiving a Practice Direction compliant LBA or real court papers.

Thanks for the response! Do I still wait and do nothing? What would be the best course of action?

Thanks. I thought with the new information that was presented to me, I'd need to take different action.

nope, I told you what to do in simple terms and NOTHING would have changed that advice UNLESS you had received an LBC or an MCOL

as neither have happened then IGNORE is still in force

the rest of the comments were "education"

No, there wasn't even a need for a thread until POPLA stage - come back then! Do not tell them who was driving if they ask.
