shared internet - limiting bandwidth?

Hi,
I hope I have the correct terminology here, apologies if this is not the case.
Four of us share a house and all have wireless access to the internet - we pay for it rather than 'borrow' someone else's. A couple of the guys like to download large items on a fairl regular basis; is there any way I can set it so that each computer attached can only download at a certain speed? It is just that when some large files get downloaded it slows the speed of the others' internet browsing experience.
Thanks in advance.

In a way they don't notice? Not really. But must P2P apps can have a limit set to prevent them hogging the bandwidth.0 -

Your router will more than likely have a QoS setting on which you can limit the bandwidth to each device0 -
Thanks for the replues...I will check my router maintenance page.
I'm not doing it behind their back; it has been talked about, I was just finding of a way to do it.*Everybody wants prosthetic foreheads on their real heads*

Perfectly understandable. Different people have different download habits. I once had a housemate who essentially downloaded films almost 24 hours a day. That was his own business but it's the fact it affects everyone else's downloading/browsing that causes... let's say "friction". Just a way of making it fair for everyone. I hope the QoS route works for you."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Buy a new router if yours doesn't have the capability.
