I get an error message "Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine" whenever I try to open an existing Office 2016 word file (not Excel)
I can clear it by clicking on OK - But is is still annoying ...
I have run both Quick and Full repairs of the installation - with no effect !
I have googled the error and it appears common - however, mostly on 2007 and 2010
I have read on one site - that it may be related to adobe acrobat being incompatible with Win 10 Creators - but I don't even have acrobat installed
Any (sensible) suggestions welcome..

Probably a linked (as opposed to embedded) object (including images, sound, pdf, etc) on the machine it was written on (including in the underlying template).

It also does it - when opening a new document
    With no templates involved

A new document still needs a template - the Normal.dot template or similar.
    Has this been corrupted?

Have you tried the "repair Office" fuction? Probably accessed from the Control panel / Programmes & Features window - you may need an original disk.
Alternatively can you do an update from within Word?

Yes - both Quick and Full and neither do anything to help !

Have you disabled any addins you may have ?

Have you tried Excel in safemode (Office safe mode, not PC safe mode) ?

Yes on both and the error disappears when in Office Safe mode - but reappears on normal running again !!
