Could you roll the mattress along the floor? I did this with a mattress and it worked quite well but trying to get it up the stairs nearly killed me
Tru
Olive oil mixed with sugar into a paste, patted onto feet, feet then put into plastic bags and socks over them and then sleep in them if you can. I did this with lemon juice for my awful hooves and it worked well but this would be too harsh for you.
Youngest dd and boyfriend left around eight to drive to Whitby and then maybe climb Roseberry Topping. It is Goth weekend so the place will be heaving but it seems there is a park and ride system which operates till tomorrow.
DD brought a load of her washing back which is now washed and in the tumble dryer and a load of towels is now in the machine. I still need to unload the dishwasher and tidy kitchen and go and buy beef and veg for lunch tomorrow for six of us and wait in to collect a parcel.
My bedroom which youngest helped me clear and declutter yesterday looks much better and feels more relaxing. Browsing on here while lying on bed and need to get myself properly up and dressed but CBA

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Another cba here, OH promised me brekkie in bed, he did not wake until 9.30!!!
Nothing spoiling, I sorted out the cleaner, it's a long story, ditched my neighbours cleaners after a conversation with her, new cleaner is going to see her today.
OH says it's a nice morning, no washing to do, I guess he will be off into the garden shortly.0 -
Morning all.
Well I don't know where to start with the housework and I feel overwhelmed. So I am having a quick coffee and formulating a plan. I have tried to keep things under but like Frozen I have " let it go " a bit.
I have put a load of washing out and there is another in the WM, dancing merrily. I have tidied up the toys and got them as far as the stairs. I have turned the TV off as I find it very distracting and put the radio on. I think I will clean through downstairs, dusting and hoovering as I go. Mr Fix It has been sent to his shed, as last night I pulled the front of the cutlery drawer off and as it's not the first time, I have asked him to fix it. After that he has to similarly fix an office drawer and it means he's out from under my feet while I clean.
This afternoon after lunch, I need to fill the DW and put it on, clean down the kitchen tops and persuade Mr Fix It to steam clean the kitchen floor. While he's doing that I hope to put the toys away and in some sort of order and get DGD presents wrapped ready for her birthday on Monday. I think that will be more than enough for today as we have been invited to DD's for a takeaway as a thank you for looking after DGC for the last 2 and a half weeks. We have to be there at 3pm and we shall meet Dad there, as he is doing his Saturday pilgrimage to Morries to meet some lunch friends.
At some point I have to factor in a quick shower too . And on that note the WM has finished so I will bid you adieu and I may be back tonight for a catch up. Wish me luck "cos I'm going in " and I may be some time :rotfl:.
Have a good day everyone.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Think Bruno Mars.
Tru I'm glad nothing awful had happened to the errant chicken.
Re going to Cornwall - you could do with the type of service I work for - Scampi would go and stay with a sympathetic Auntie/Uncle for a lovely holiday all of his own. You can specify a non-pet owner, too.
The little dog I have staying at the moment has lots of issues from his previous life before he found his forever family; but he's settled in here beautifully, and despite having a general dislike/mistrust of men, is fine with Mr LW.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
 Who/what is Bruno Mars?
Have a look at this:

It's just the chorus I play in my head.
The day is just awful, hard to believe that yesterday we had clear skies and bright sunshine. I've braved the weather to go into the garden to fill the bird feeders up.
I've ordered a book for DM and she's told me that her Blue Badge has arrived, that will make things a bit easier for her and (hopefully) mean that she'll use her car more.
Off to snuggle under a blanket until the woodburner gets going properly.0 -
Hello all.
Hope you're all having a nice Saturday. I had a lie in this morning & got up at 0910. Very nice. Had a shower and went to the shop my sister works in. It's a beautiful shop selling beautiful things. I didn't buy anything. I had my mantra of "I have no money". My sister looked good, they were all dressed up for Halloween.
I did buy some books for presents for my best friends boys for Xmas. So they are sorted.
Then I went to Aldi & Asda. Small is off again this week & won't leave the house so that MADE me sort myself out & buy enough food for the week. I also did a menu plan.
Small will have to leave the house as both the teens have appointments this week & he will have to come with me. Will be prepared for meltdowns.
Do you think the innards from the Halloween pumpkins can be eaten? I've got 2 huge ones and it seems wasteful to chuck all the flesh away.
Beautiful sky out there right now. A lovely red/orange.
The clocks go back tonight. Goodness only knows what time Small will get up tomorrow morning. And it's my turn to get up!
Best wishes all & many thanks for the welcome back. I will reply more individually when I get my head around it again!

Hello chums I'm just back from my youngest DDs The hospital decided to keep her in overnight as she was very disorientated after the general anesthetic. She is at home tresting with her foot elevated now and I have been there all day to help the family and keep and eye on her to make sure she doesn't attempt to do anything She hates being immobile but hopping about on one leg isn't a good idea She has been given crutches and a surgical boot to wear and I have seen where they operated on and it is going to leave quite a long scar, but if it means she can walk again without pain its got to be good. She ,like me, is not a patient patient
I popped into the shop and saw her boss at the EA where she works and he is a lovely chap and doesn't want her to overdo things.
Eldest DD and her OH cut short their trip and managed to get a flight home early on Thursday from NYC they have been at the hospital in London almost every since, Frank is very poorly and drifting in and out of consciousness, he has been given a lot of pain relief so he is comfortable at least and not suffering It seems the Drs have said it will be only a few more days DD and her OH have been taking it in turns to sit with him for 15 minutes at a time so he is never on his own,so sad and DD texted me to say he has gone downhill very rapidly,he has a lot of congestion on his lungs as well and in a way it will be a blessed relief, although no one wishes him away ,but to see someone suffering is very hard.
I am going tp put my feet up tonight as its been one heck of a week and next week will possibly be similar although youngest DD hopefully will improve by the day
Thak you every one for all your support and good wishes .I maybe offline for a few days owing to real life problems .
Take care everyone and I will pop in when I get a moment
Much love to you all

Evening all ( bobs up and down Dixon style
)
Just got back from DD's and we had a lovely Chinese takeaway. I shall probably be bouncing off the walls tonight . I don't know what's in it that keeps me awake but I'd love to bottle it and use it when I feel in a cba mood.
Anyway I managed to do most of the things on my list from this morning, except pack the presents, which I have now done. Oh! and the kitchen floor didn't get steamy either but as that was on Mr Fix It's list, it doesn't count :rotfl:.
The weather today was sunny but windy, however now the skies have gone black and its turned really cold, so I have put the heating on. As most of the washing was dry this afternoon I have put it on the radiators to air at the same time.
MrsMH I think if you google pumpkin flesh there are lots of recipes. HTH.
JackieO I'm so sorry about Frank but at hopefully he's isn't in any pain. It is so sad to see a loved one slip away. I'm glad that your DD's op went well and I hope she has a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself too. Many hugs to you and your family.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Jackie, good to read your update, I hope that Frank slips away peacefully soon, it is great that the family were able to get back home. I have done the 6 days in hospital waiting for OH's Father to pass, it is very hard, but a great thing to be able to do.
Sending healing vibes to your DD, I hope that she recovers well.
Take care of you too as best you can.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0
