Housing Benefit & Working Tax Credit

Hi I need some advice, I'm self employed and earning roughly £125 a week at the moment, I'm working 30 hours a week (i'm trying to get my business of the ground) I want to claim working tax credits and housing benefits, i'm 28 and single, would I be eligible for maximum benefits or will my working tax credits affect my housing benefit eligibility ? Hope someone can help.

Working tax credits is counted as income for housing benefit purposes.

As you're only doing thirty hours is there a reason why you can't get a second job? There are plenty of opportunities in retail and hospitality if you get on to it straightaway.

Is this a new job? If so what income have you had for the rest of the financial year? If not how long have you been doing it for?

Only 30 hours.

Far too many firms work around tax credit rules of 16 hours per week in some circumstances.

I still believe that in work benefits overall are a good thing.
