Acetate boxes
Options
Hi all, I bought some clear acetate boxes to make some gifts up.
However, they are slightly too tall and I wondered if they could be made smaller from the bottom.
They are 6inch cubes ( came flat packed) and they just fold up at the bottom. I wondered if I could re-crease the bottom half an inch to give me a shorter box.
What would be the best thing to use to re-crease the acetate and has anyone done this?

Could you not just fill the bottom part with some packing material (maybe shredded paper) to fill the excess void? I somehow think that if you cut off the base and re-folded it, it may not look so neat as plastic sometimes discolours and doesn't stay folded when you try and do this. Depends how thick it is I guess.
If you do want to try re-folding, try a bone creaser (like you get for card making) or the blunt side of a table knife.0 -
I don't think you will get a very satisfactory outcome - acetate is notoriously hard to score/bend/shape. If you decide to have a go regardless, try softening the box in hot water for a few minutes and then scoring new fold lines using a metal skewer which has been dipped in boiling water (and a ruler to guide your hand!).0
