belkin or bt hub?

Hi,
I have a belkin wireless g router which gives limited access around the house. I am getting a free bt hub as part of a new deal.
Will this give better access?
I am not too computer literate and I am wary about changing something that works for this new router
Will it be easy to reconnect my belkin if things go awry?
thanks
lozzer

Use the BT one, there is nothing wrong with the Belkin one but BT might not support it.
When I say support it I mean if you have tech problems and call them the support guy will only be competent with the BT router they are trained on.

Yes it should be easy to reconnect the Belkin, make sure you do a clean install of the software before you reconnected it (if you have to).

Some users have had nothing but problems with the BT Home Hub, so if you are fairly happy with your existing set-up leave well alone. BT support is basic to say the least, so don't worry about using your own kit. The BT Home Hub also has a security flaw see here for more info.

There is no software to install when using a router so don't know what planemad is on about!

There is always a CD with Belkin routers that contains a PDF manual and a set up utility these are for people who are generally like the original poster who by his own admissions is not very good with computers.

I had a Belkin wireless hub and have changed over to a free BT HOME HUB which I much prefer. You may be entitled to a free hub phone too from BT. I got one when I renewed my contarct to 18 months icon11.gif
  • If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

You are probably paying through the nose (£20+/month) for your "free" homehub, which you don't really need.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

Well as no software is required to connect to a router, it is not necessary to "make sure you do a clean install of the software before you reconnected it (if you have to). Once programmed with the user name/password, the two routers can be swapped over at will, without removing/re-installing any software.
