eBay UK shop warranty

Hi,

I trawled around on eBay UK and don't seem to be able to find anything on this so maybe the MSE community can help.

I recently bought an electronic product from an eBay UK Shop. There is a warranty issue and I would like to know the T&Cs of the warranty the shop has. On the US eBay site it states that shops MUST either include the full warranty text or provide a link to the same but I cannot find a similar requirement on the UK eBay site.

I have asked for the terms directly from the seller but would still like to know if there is a requirement for them to list the details as per in the USA which does not appear to be the case. Can anybody help?

You missed the eBay board

In the UK business sellers can offer a warranty but they do not have to, so if there were no warranty terms stated then you need to fall back on consumer laws to protect you.

A warranty is with the manufacture, give them a call and they will help and answer all your questions.


its also very easy to get warranty information direct from the manufactures web site, google it

Thanks for the reply. The warranty is offered by the eBay shop with the product for a refurb phone so is under their terms - but I can't find out what they are! Seems to me that ebay UK are missing something here if their "shops" (not individual sellers) are offering warranties but don't have to provide the details as per eBay USA.

I think that US consumer rights rely a lot more on contract and less so on law, UK being the opposite, so they are more pro-active in that area. I am sure they will supply them if you ask.
