O/S Daily Friday 27th October 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark here, dry underfoot but getting cooler. although forecast for today is saying sunshine - we'll see.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was prawn and smoked salmon linguine - was lovely but menfolk said there wasn't enough prawns and smoked salmon in it (it had a whole packet of smoked salmon trimmings, a small bag of king prawns and half a big bag of normal prawns in it - won't bother making it again as it was too expensive especially if they want more in it!). Tonight will be something easy and quick with chips.
Yesterday I wasn't overly productive but did get all the washing done, our bed stripped and remade, duvet cover washed and dried and away, sheet and pillowcases waiting to go into TD/on line if weather good enough. I did 4 wash loads, that are all dry, hoovered all through, sorted dry washing so now have a small pile to iron - this will be done today. I also went to see my local butcher, as soon as I walked in, he said it's that time again, we had a chat about how quickly this year seems to have passed - my fresh meat hamper all ordered and paid for, so the first thing for xmas to tick off the list. Did a menu plan based on store cupboard/fridge/freezer, shopping list written too.
Boys are happy we seem to have a fixed shower, DS1 used the shower last night and said it was fine.
So on to today -
I will be going to the SM first thing, once home I'll be putting the shopping away, tackling the ironing pile, then may do some baking/cooking. I still have leeks in the fridge and fancy some leek and potato soup, so may make that and then have some for my lunch today and keep some for tomorrow, then freeze the rest for lunches etc. I may get myself a nice wholemeal seeded bread roll to go with it whilst shopping.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
JackieO. I hope that your daughter’s op goes well today. Take care of yourself as well as everyone else. You are looking after so many people at the moment.
I’m glad that I don’t use the counter service in the bank much these days. There were seven of us in the queue yesterday and one person serving. It took over 30 minutes to get served.
This morning I’m going to drag myself out to the sm if only for more tins of rice pudding. I’m eating quite a lot of it at the moment, mainly because it doesn’t require any effort. I found an hm ready meal of goulash yesterday for dinner. I was going to do some rice to go with it but ended up just having it as it was. At least it was ‘proper’ food and not junk.
If I cba I’ll put some washing on this morning, although the forecast isn’t looking that good to get it dried outside.
I’m going to go and grab a yoghurt for breakfast, and another cup of tea.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Good morning everyone.
Still under the duvet! The visitor is arriving about 10’izh to down, old her photographs onto a flash drive for DM, there are hundreds as she’s obviously a happy snapper. Then I’m taking her to the airport for her flight home. Wish I could fly home, would be so much faster / easier, I’m so weary and need some time in my own place.
I’ve so much marking to do it’s beginning to worry me. My spare time is being eaten up so I have to stop.
Anyway, it’s Friday and I wish you all a very happy and productive one.0 -
Morning all
Dark here and feels cold but its meant to be a nice day with sunshine all day, off to work for me and im working this weekend so three days to go yet
Ok so it would seem im picking up about 8 people now for Tru's spa :rotfl:I may have to make several trips and we will need more wine cos Tru's Christmas stash wont go far !!
Takeaway and wine tonight although not too much wine for me, and I really must wash my work t-shirts or I wont have anything to wear tomorrow..
Jackie How is Frank doing ? did your dd get back from New York ok ? and I hope the op goes well today xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Rubbish night for me with this blooming "sort of" frozen shoulder which is now into it's 4th/5th week. Just as I feel it's easing it's back again and was keeping me awake most of the night. I am tired before the day starts.
The DGDs are all still in their beds and long may they remain so! They were all 3 later to bed than normal with no school to get up for. No plans made for today, we will have a committee meeting when they get up. I hope it's nothing too taxing 'cos we have a busy weekend ahead as, now DD is back from the caravan, we are off over tomorrow and Sunday to start the marathon job of sorting out/packing up/covering it up etc. I hate that job.
Have a good day all and ((HUGS)) for the sad, worried and poorly who want them. Hope all goes to plan for JACKIE's DD today. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning :hello:
So you're all coming to my house, with lots of lovely drinks and sweet treats?redruby you're going to have to hire a bus. You'll have to stay the night, there's going to be so much alcohol that none of you will be fit to travel home :rotfl:
Day Three.
I tore seven sheets of paper from a notebook, one for each day of the week. I wrote pampering things on each one, crossed some out and changed them to another day (I did this a few times!) and I think I've got a routine that I can stick to. I'm going to write them into my diary, it's going to look odd – send wages info to HMRC, fill in CIS return, file and moisturise feet, check pension progress
Today I'll be attempting to sort out my dry hair. I have some hair oil so I'm going to put it on while it's dry, leave it on for half an hour then shampoo out. No idea if this works but I'll give it a go. I'll also do the pilates video, de-fuzz and try two walks with Scampi. Not sure how the walks will go, there's been lots of kids about because of half term, next week will be easier and less stressful for him – which makes it easier and less stressful for me, lol.
Scampi has a sore spot on the inside of his back leg, it looks like an allergic reaction to something. He's doing a good job of keeping it clean but if it doesn't get better he'll have to go to the vet. That will be a nightmare because there are a few places on his body that he won't let you touch and this is one of them, he'll need a muzzle if the vet has to touch it.

Good morning all
Thanks for starting us off nmlc
Jackie hugs, hope all goes well for your daughter today. please make sure you look after yourself.

Hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Good morning all. I was too busy to write yesterday morning as I had to hurry up the HT into getting ready to go shopping. He needed a new winter waterproof jacket which will double as his sailing waterproof next summer, and new trainers. There was a lot of protesting about not needing anything but I was equally firm that he did (he really did) as there is no chance I was taking him one night after school in the run up to Christmas. Anyway, we went, said items were duly purchased and he had pizza for lunch which cheered him up no end. By the time the shopping expedition was over and we were home I had no inclination to do anything much......
Jackie thinking of you and your family but especially of Frank's wife. Hope your daughter's op goes well.
TA my sister has an intermittent problem like you do with your shoulder. She pays for a chiropractor visit as it's the only thing that fixes it when it happens.
Hollyharvey tinned rice pudding is one of the HT's favourite foods and smart price noodles is another. You wouldn't think that he was brought up on home made and lovingly prepared baby food :rotfl:
I need to go and have the dressing on my leg changed. I can't decide if I should take my knitting (a cable pattern which means I have to concentrate as it's still a relatively new thing) or my crochet ripple blanket which I can do without too much thinking but is rather large. Heart says knitting, common sense says blanket. Better get dressed then....love and light to you all0 -
Morning everyone,
All thoughts are with JackieO , Frank and their families.
Up a bit later today, didn't sleep very well with weird dreams so DOH got up and sorted the dogs.
It's bright and sunny here but bbbrrr cold, guess its fast heading into November so hardly surprising. The WM is going already and I need to change the bed & the towels as well as hoover through the house. Then after lunch I will head over to the yard, poo pick Lulu's field, make up her stable as the horses will be coming in overnight from Saturday night and, if time, walk her down the lane. Good job I like to be busy!
Loving the idea of a spa day round Tru's, will pack the Mini with goodies and do a pick up on the way
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Another bad night, we were still reading at 1am, having had one go of settling down to sleep. If he is the same tonight I am going back into the day bed. I need my sleep. He is still in bed, have taken his breakfast through.
Washing done over night, thick things are already out, need to hang the rest out and fingers crossed it dries. It a bright sunny morning which was what we were forecast.
Lady cmae about the cleaning last night, slightly cheaper than the other ones, but they come recommended by my neighbour..........hmmmmm will make my mind up over the weekend, but I have a feeling that the ones who go to my neighbour are going to win.
Usual fish and chips tonight, I am going to have to go shopping next Thursday, I am running out of stuff, we have filter coffee in the mornings and I have run out, will also need fish. Need a freezer audit to see what we have got in the freezers.
Jackie O I hope your family get home to see Frank.0 -
Morning lovelies
Jackie ..thinking about you and all your lovely family today hope all goes well with your daughters op and of course Frank. :A As my adopted mum I do hope you are looking after Jackie too. When all settles down Ill pick you up and take you to Tru's spa ill even bring the gin
Well as predicted not a lot of sales went on yesterday so cracking on with a bit more focus today. Was up at 6.30 to the sound of a very large delivery lorry outside my window. Panicked as I thought it was my new mattress arriving threw some clothes on and raced downstairs. Turns out it was for the bloke opposite and they had a heck of a job getting him out of bed to accept it. Since when was it ok to deliver at 6.30? Roll on sunday for a lie in.
Didn't get round to my fray bentos pie last night time ran away with me so settled for a couple of hot dogs in finger rollsWill have the pie tonight with some mushy peas ...going back to my wigan roots Friday night is pie night
This weekend sees a return to some proper food but do enjoy some crap every now and then
Right coffee break over back to it:cool:0
