The 1545 is easy, IIRC turn it over and take two screws out near one side and the drive slides out.

Copying everything to a new drive is a different matter, you need access to another computer, a desktop would be ideal and then use a program like Clonezilla (you don't install it, it runs off a CD) for example to copy the drive.

Or just buy one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/USB-SATA-Adapter-Cable-Drives-en-GB-SATA-USB-3-0-converter/dp/B01N2JIQR7/

Buy new disk (SSD if you can afford it), plug in adapter, clone disk, swap disks.
  • The easy option is to clean up the hard drive by moving files to an external drive...

If you fancy a solid state drive, the Crucial SSDs come with Acronis True Image which does a nice job of painless data transfer, you put the new drive on a USB adapter cable. Took me only around 30 mins from opening the box to having the SSD installed and running. The drives are the the same physical size.
