Desktop on desktop problem

I like to set out the icons on my desktop grouping together things I like.

I don't turn off my computer.
But recently the icons have been rearranged when the screen goes to sleep.
When I wake up the screen the icons are all arranged differently.

Dunno why this has started happening but it's annoying.

Any ideas how to stop it???
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

    Not really.

About the best you can do is to run a program which saves the icon layout to a file, and can restore it from that file when you find the layout has been screwed up. Ones to look for are Fences, Desktop Restore, Desktop OK.

They are not entirely accurate, but they help.

It is a long-standing Microsoft 'feature' not to save the desktop icon layout...

right click on desktop and see if you have inadvertently ticked "Auto Arrange Icons"

Thanks, the only items ticked are:
    show desktop icons and
    align icons to grid.

    This hasn't changed.

Are using programmes that change screen resolution? Could be after you exit the programme, the desktop resolution is different to what has been in use and the icons do not now fit the screen. Check to see if the rearrangement happens randomly or after a particular programme/game use.

    I've changed nothing.

It seems to be a bit random because after sometimes going to sleep the screen wakes with no change to icon position. Other times icons do change.

Similarly, possibly the screen driver resolution doesn't properly persist after a screen goes to sleep
