How to stop edge of car door getting chipped?
We are lucky enough to have a 50 foot/15metre driveway.
The brick gable end of the house is on one side and a brick wall on the other.
The drive isn't very wide and the edge of the car door catches on the wall.I wouldn't dare mention who the main culprit is.
I don't want to put door protectors on the door edge because we live near the sea, and have found by experience, that sand gets behind the clip on protector and scratches the paintwork underneath.
I would like to screw or stick something on to the full length of the wall.I have some plastic guttering fascia board and wondered if some 10 cm wide x 4 metre lengths of this could be the answer-or is it too hard.
Would anyone have any suggestions as to what I could put on the wall?

Try Helicopter tape on the door?
Not sure what could be put on the wall that would last really, sure someone else will have an idea0 -
A length of thick rope?0

Hosepipe nailed to the wall.0

I use a length of 40mm plastic waste water pipe, I have the same issue in my garage, although only on the drivers side. I only needed a 3 foot length and cut the ends at 45 degrees, drilled a hole in each end (the reason for cutting the ends at 45 deg) and screwed it to the wall.
Screwfix or B&Q, black or white...0 -
My neighbour seems to have solved this issue by leaning a load of filthy old mattresses against the wall of his house.0

Pipe insulation or pool noodles seem to work pretty well. Plastic piping might look a bit nicer though.0

And he doesn't even own a car!0 -
Buy a rubber wall buffer. They look the part and are designed so you can open a door with correct force that the door can 'lean' onto the rubber buffer and not damage the paintwork.0

Pipe insulation works well (and can be cut laterally in half giving twice the length) and costs hardly anything.
There are bespoke products out there which will offer better cosmetics.0 -
