Smart Parking - B&M Doncaster

Options
Another Smart scam making the news at the B&M store in Doncaster.

They've changed it from 2 hours maximum stay free parking to only the first hour free, pay for the 2nd hour.

Many people caught out, I can see this being a big money spinner for Smart.
I hope the victims don't just pay up and fight.

A B&M spokeswoman said: “Car parking restrictions have been installed by an independent parking company to ensure that there is space for our customers to park.
Looks like the tail is wagging the dog again!

I’m sure there’ll soon be plenty of spaces to park!

Seems like a simple boycott of teh store is needed
B&M certainly will not help, they are well known for being awful with customers.

As the car park is now earning revenue its time for a call to the Valuation Office to get the car park rated for business rates.

I like how B & M thinks that because there were 2 wardens on site during the week the new parking regulations were put in place, the WHOLE of Doncaster knows !!
Surely it’s their duty to inform their customers putting this info in their website as well. There is NOTHING whatsoever there.
They should at least inform customers, but maybe not doing it they pocket more revenue from unsuspecting customers.
They will lose more business out of anger about this than anything else...

Make it your duty to inform as many people about the new restrictions, and opint out that B&M will not help you

Also, as above, tell the council valuations office - afetr all, tehy are selling premium spaces fro a premium price, and earning money from the site. Surely they should be interested in this new source of revenue for the council.

It would be interesting to see the new signs and how they explain (or don't) this system to the motorist.

Is the motorist if after being in the store for nearly an hour and realising they are going to go over the free hour, then supposed to go out to the machine and pay for another hour.
Or do should they just pay for the second hour on entering the car park in the first place, just in case they go over the free hour.

Anyway hopefully the victims who have received PCN's find their way to this forum and not just pay the scammers.

What I read somewhere also a B&M store who had taken over from Tesco, were using this parking Cowboys, but it would appear that Tesco was still owning right of land, so they were not very happy to find out B&M had hired this parking scheme, and profiting from it, when it was not even their land to profit from!
It would good to find out if the same applies here, as they can only enforce if they receive the parking contract from the actual land owner ;);)
