Switching & opening accounts when unemployed

Hi. Recently I lost my job and now want a good rate for my savings - long overdue as sitting in a 0.5% everyday savers account. To get this I have to switch, so am I able to open a current or savings account with a new bank while unemployed?

Shouldn't affect anything with a savings account.
You may have problems with some current accounts if you can't state a particular level of income, but this is by no means universal.0 -
If asked to put my income I put estimated future income (including investment income). I guess you are not intending to remain unemployed so that could be anything within reason.“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0
