...... also the fact they have kids means they no longer have time for themselves. .........

that's not a fact, that's a lifestyle choice based on one's chosen style of parenting.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

Was a poor choice of phrase and I didn't mean fact in literal terms. Just an observation of people I know and society in general.

Never was there a prouder day than when I was nominated department "Equality and Diversity Champion" :)
Sacking everyone with Equality and/or Diversity in their job title would be a guaranteed way to solve the 'productivity problem'!

On a similar note, a document was circulated the other day titled "Guidance For Steakholders"...

Either someone needs to focus less on the sh** and more on their spelling, or I've been working unknowingly in the restaurant business for the past 32 years!

Must be great working with people who have absolutely no idea how (or even if) to use a spellchecker. Then they wonder how it could be that so many want to retire just to get away from the corporate bulls***. I hope your freedom day is imminent!

    HR is an odd term.

Referring to your staff as a human resource just puts them on a level with a piece of equipment, photocopier, company car, computer etc. I'm not saying that firms don't do that, just that they would normally shrink from so obviously stating it.
