Can get the basic medical travel insurance for Japan and Finland for one week. It's £45 for silver cover. Worth it?

Depends on your needs and options.

Insurance of all kinds is a waste of money if you never claim and a necessity if you do. Since none of us have a crystal ball I would say that travel insurance is worth it, yes.

Is there a lesser insurance ie bronze that covers you for medical needs? Who is the insurance with? Have you shopped around? It's impossible to give a definitive answer without that information.

    Definitely, unless you are rich.
How do you know you aren't going to break a leg and need 9 seats and a nurse on the plane to get back?
    Do you have £100K spare?

    I'd say definitely.
Likelihood is small but costs can be high.

It's with Hays Travel. Do they worm out of paying?

Sounds like an agent selling it. Shop around and you should pay much less.

Is insurance part of your bank package ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
