Specsavers NHS voucher error

After a sight test at Specsavers they gave me an NHS voucher to use against the cost of new glasses. I went to another opticians where I was told that the voucher was worth £111, so I bought some quite expensive frames and lenses. Unfortunately it transpired that Specsavers had given me the wrong voucher! Actually it was worth just under £40, which meant I'd spent around £70 more than I could afford.
Specsavers are unapologetic and are not prepared to help. It seems that once they've got the money for the sight test they're not interested in any form of customer service, indeed they're not actually prepared to even apologise for their error.

What’s the voucher “value” and what’s your prescription?0

Should not have gone to Specsavers0

Surely you didn't have to spend the extra £70 if you were entitled to £111 then instead of redeeming the voucher you could have just gone back to spec savers for them to rectify their error. Unless you were only entitled to the £40 but were mistakingly told that it was for £111 but you still didn't have to spend that much on top0

£39.10 is for single vision glasses up to the power of +/- 6.00 with astigmatism of up to +/- 2.00 (A voucher). A voucher of £111.20 can be issued for bifocals or varifocals where the distance prescription is between +/- 10.00 - 14.00. It is dependant on your prescription and the lenses you need or choose. Do you have a very high prescription and need bifocals or varifocals? It is impossible to know your entitlement without knowing your priscription and the lens type you purchased!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. I’m not surprised they didn’t apologise, it appears they did nothing wrong.
Looks like the fault lies with the other opticians, your beef is with them.0 -

No - you're wrong! Specsavers told me it was worth £111 but it turned out to be worth £40
You said:
‘I went to another opticians where I was told that the voucher was worth £111’
You then found it was worth less. That sounds like their fault - it’s not our fault you phrased the sentence to imply fault on the other opticians behalf.0 -
If you had bought something overpriced from specsavers then maybe the voucher would have got you a £111 discount?
I wouldn't go near them, booked an appointment for the MIL, mentioned she is in a wheelchair and asked if there was any issues with that. No issues at all they said plenty of space for a wheelchair.
Arrived early and then told the room is in the basement, down some narrow stairs.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
