Please could you tell me who is right? Does my contract really protects me? What should I do next? This is nearly 2000 pounds we're talking about!! (rent in advance and deposit). There must be sth one can do when something that unexpected happens just after you moved in!!
Thanks for any advise, I'm completely stressed out and frustrated (we basically sleep with the lights on!).

Start you're own thread, this is more of a debate thread & a lot of people who could help you won't bother reading this."Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.0 -
Tee hee. Thanks for a brilliant laugh, pinkshoes! They obviously didn't teach you spelling in school.
Go look up the spelling of wary.
Thanks! I knew that was spelt wrong, but when you stare at a word long enough any variation looks wrong so I just left it be! Will write it out 20 times...
I struggle with English spelling sometimes. tis not always logical!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Oh for a perfect world ! one where good tenants get good landlords and bad tenants get bad landlords!
Wouldn't it also be great if all LL and tenants were honest about the length of time they are / want to let for?
Sigh - I'll just carry on dreaming about such a world.0 -
An interesting outcome.
A massive majority of tenants feel that landlords cannot be trusted to behave responsibly on their own. Two tenants voted the other way. Were these real tenants or troll landlords? Please make yourselves known.
Only 7 landlords voted. One suspects that decent landlords didn't bother to vote (as it doesn't matter to them either way).0 -
Not really statistically significant, but interesting nonetheless, Macaque.
Could we have unearthed startling new evidence that in general, tenants would like to have better rights, but that landlords would rather they didn't?0
