Advice on thermostats and what to buy

Good Evening All, I'd appreciate some advice as I'm not sure what I need or the best way to do it.
A couple of years back I had a new boiler fitted - raven heat 780 series.
In fitting the new boiler my old thermostat became disconnected and I've lived without one for a couple of years. I'm now out of the house for longer during the day and am hating having a choice between coming home to a boiling hot or freezing cold house so I want to get a thermostat.
I don't really want to hire a plumber again and I don't care about digital displays or apps - I just need something that is fairly easy to fit, a fair price, and that I can set to a temperature and ignore.
Do you have any recommendations or suggestions?
Thank you in advance.

That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

It looks like this:
But I just turn the heating on and off using the summer/winter switch because it's really hard to judge how long the heating needs to be on/off during the day with the weather as variable as it has been. That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

A thermostat will need to be wired directly to the boilers PCB with a built in timer like that, you will need someone gas safe registered.0

Okay.
Thanks for the advice.
If you don't mind - cost wise - do you think it would be best for me to buy something (and any recommendations for what) then find a plumber to come and fit it/find a plumber and let them pick what to install/ or go with someone like British Gas/Hive who sell a system and fitting as one price?
I'm with Npower and know British Gas will install a hive system for non-customers for around £250That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I thought it would be an electrician who would fit a timer not a plumber?
Where are you going to put the thermostat? You may need a wireless one.0 -
There will likely be a small access hatch with screw terminals inside and a loop of wire between them, it won't be mains voltage either, so no sparky required. Turn of boiler, remove loop of wire, wire in a battery powered thermostat where the wire used to be.
I'll look up the boiler later, but i'd bet it's something like this.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

The boiler is after the fuse spur so if it mains voltage or low voltage a gas safe guy will do the work. The front cover will need removing on a raven heat so will need someone gas safe.
Cost wise I’d guess around £200 for a wireless stat.0
