Barrier open, bagged up, no where to purchase ticket - Still received parking fine

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could advise please, last week I had entered a Britannia car park (private company) at 7pm in Newcastle and both barriers were left open with the ticket machine at the barrier, bagged up. I had looked about to see if there was anywhere to retrieve a ticket so that I could pay for parking but there was nothing. I was there for 30 mins and thought nothing of it until I had received a letter today with a photo of my reg and the time I entered and exited. Conveniently there was no photo of the bagged up machine. The letter had stated a £100 fine to be lowered to £60 when paid within a certain time frame. Can someone please advise? Unfortunately, I didn't take any photographic evidence at the time but will they have records that the barrier, I assume, was faulty?

The NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1 will guide you through this. Also complain to the landowner/retailer/Hotel (or whatever type of car park it was).
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

This is easy and you are barking up the wrong tree. Do appeal, as keeper - HINT- Britannia can't hold a keeper liable. This is why the NEWBIES thread exists, to stop people appealing with the story of what happened and blabbing about who parked!
