If you can't work that out, you haven't thought it through,
Do enlighten me, as from where I stand it sounds s if you're very confused.
she may as well insure a car she has no connection with (sorn) just to build up no claims, I'm sure the underwriters have that covered too.
If you want to insure a car you don't drive in order to build up no claims bonus there's nothing to stop you (assuming you tell the truth about who is the owner, registered keeper etc). Insurers would love you to insure a car which spends all year parked on your driveway, as for them it's free money with almost no risk of having a claim.

As above, there's no advantage to you in insuring a car purely to build up no claims bonus. If you were silly enough to think that paying a full year's premium now in order to get a few percent off next year's premium was a good idea, the insurance company would take your money and say thank you very much.

(There are maybe a handful of situations where it might theoretically make sense - maybe if you insured a Fiat 500 with the intention of buying a Ferrari next year. However in the real world the number of people who are going to buy Ferraris next year is negligible - and they're all rich enough not have to worry about ways of scrimping an extra year's no claims bonus. In 99% of cases this wheeze is not going to save you money.)
  • Marmalade do this but I'm not sure if allows a buld up of NCD. They're also the only company I can find that does separate policies like this -The Guardian says others do but unhelpfully doesn't name any. I think a broker may be the best place to start but I wouldn't be surprised if adding her to your policy ends up being the cheapest option. Insurance costs for young drivers is insane.
    A witty saying proves nothing
