I have to redirect the post from my sister who has just died. You can't do it online. The Royal Mail form asks for 2 utility bills or original bank/credit card/mortgage statements (in last 6 months) but won't accept bills printed from the internet. All my dealings are now on the internet. How can I proceed?

You may have to request an original statement from your bank/utilities provider0

Presumably the online verification failed.0

Go into the bank and request (pay for?) an original statement?0

I've now discovered my wife has a recent bank statement so I will let her do the redirect. But it is a problem which the Post Office needs to address.0

"it is a problem which the Post Office needs to address". Because of "Identity Fraud" all utilities and banks etc will only accept original documents - so it is not just Royal Mail (Post Office). Fraudulent redirection of mail does occur.
Most of my current accounts are "paperless" but I do keep one with monthly statements by mail for this very purpose.
Sorry about the loss of your sister.0 -

Royal mail and Post Office are not the same thing.
As you say RM need to have checks in place due to the potential for fraudulent use of the redirection service.0 -
...just as an aside.....how does this need for originals fit with the almost daily bombardment from banks/building socs./utility cos. etc etc "to go paperless" ?
I was looking at my financial records yesterday, shredding old stuff, and I realised I only have one credit card bill still being supplied on a monthly basis - everything else is paperless!0 -

The majority of RMs redirection applications can be completed and validated online.0 -
When I recently applied for a pension payment they wanted either original bank statements or an accredited copy. We went to the branch and they printed off and stamped and signed them, which they did free of charge and this was fine with the pension company.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0
